“I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ, is calling us.” [Philippians 3:13-14].
Moving forward can seem impossible especially when the past holds such significant weight for the future. There is heartbreak, loneliness, poverty, divorce, miscarriages, sickness, unemployment. There is crime, death, hurting, terrorism, division, brokenness. There is sin. We live in a sin-fallen world. And these things make up our past. They cloud our perception of the future. They can even hinder us from moving forward. They can keep us stuck. They can keep us in a deep depression feeling like there is no way out. This is what the enemy wants. He wants us stuck, depressed, powerless and helpless.

BUT GOD. He gives us a glimpse of the future and we must trust His promises for what is to come. We don’t know exactly where He is taking us, but He always works all things together for our good. He has a plan for us, not for disaster, but for a future and hope. He knows where He is taking us. We just have to be willing to LET GO of the past, as much as it hurts and as hard as it is, so that we can receive what is coming. If we keep looking back, we block the blessing that is right in front of us because we are focused in the wrong direction. When you fix your focus, you also fix your faith. Keep looking forward! Don’t look back! That season is over and better is coming. Don’t look back unless that is where you want to go!
Amen! As we keep our focus on him we will get through anything! God is so good. Absolutely loved this and it spoke to me in so many ways! Much love. -Aariel 🙂
