According to Webster’s dictionary:
Grace (noun): courteous goodwill; respect; courtesy, politeness, poise.
God gives us grace. Grace is the divine favor we are given from God. It is love and mercy (the punishment we deserve for our sins) from God because He desires us to have it, not because we have done anything to deserve it, but because He loves us so much. This is a free gift to us as we put our faith in Him. We don’t have to do anything to earn it. We are given this by His choice. Isn’t that promising and hopeful? This brings me so much relief that no matter what I do, He still loves me. Now, that is not to say that I can do horrible things and all is good because there are consequences for our choices, but we are forgiven. The fact is we are given a choice. This gives me so much hope because the Lord knows I’ve got issues! 😉
I’m not sure about you, but I know some of my actions do not match the desires of my heart. Sometimes I’m having a bad day. Sometimes I am tired. Sometimes I am not in the mood. Sometimes my moods are unpredictable because of bipolar cycling. Sometimes I feel reckless and out of control. Sometimes I just feel like I don’t care, but I know it doesn’t have to be this way. I bind all these things in JESUS name! I am grateful that I have the free will to choose how I can react. I know now that I don’t have to be perfect. It is easy for me to think that I have to be perfect because my upbringing said so. But what is perfect anyway? In my eyes, only God is and this releases the burden that I carry aiming to be perfect. We are already perfect just the way we are in His eyes. I can only be the best I know how to be and practice getting better each day.
Be easier on yourself today. Tell yourself how worthy you are. Tell yourself that it is okay to be ‘good’ today. Maybe ‘good’ is the best you can do today and that it just fine because tomorrow is a new day to try all over again. ❤
